 - Alternatives to Traditional Capital: The Increased Prominence of Private Lenders and Family Office Investors
  • There is a growing void between the capital needs of real estate developers and what the regulated lenders and institutional equity providers are willing to do. Can the non-regulated lenders and sub-institutional equity sources fill this void?
  • Commercial banks continue to be under tight regulatory scrutiny, which reduces their capacity and desire to do construction loans. As fund sizes grow and investment minimums increase, the void in smaller equity investments is becoming more prominent
  • With this shift in traditional capital sources, the panel will address who the players are, their cost of capital and what is their appetite for risk
  • What is the best way for a real estate developer to identify and approach a family office? Similarly, how does a real estate developer determine who the legitimate private lenders are and who would be the best fit for their project?
